Coming: 2 New Videos + A Fellowship to Support the Work!
I’ve been awarded a Prince Georges County Arts and Humanities Council Artist Fellowship!
With this support, I’m developing a new series of short video pieces that are focused on the natural environment of Southern Prince Georges County.
The videos will be filmed in and will highlight these local areas inside the beautiful Patuxent River Park:
Patuxent River Park
Patuxent River Park is comprised of more than 6,000 acres of natural area parklands along the eastern boundary of Prince George's County. Much of the land contains valuable natural and historical resources.
Fran Uhler Natural Area
Located along the Patuxent River, the Fran Uhler Natural Area features five miles of woodland trails open for hiking, bicycling, and nature study.
Chesapeake Bay Critical Area Tour
This is a self-guided tour that was first established in 1986. It connects Jug Bay Natural Area with Merkle Wildlife Sanctuary and starts from the Patuxent River Visitors Center. This project was born out of the Chesapeake Bay Initiative, initiated in 1984, required each local jurisdiction bordering the Bay and its tributaries to develop a program to protect natural resources, shorelines, and water quality.
The Critical Area Criteria called for restrictions on shoreline development, designation for buffer area around tidal waters, and the development of comprehensive, local guidelines to ensure long-term protection of the natural assets of the Bay
There will be some upcoming online events!
(Save the Date: November 17, 2021 - 7 p.m. ET)
So please stay tuned for details. Looking forward to documenting and sharing this herb and art journey!
